Award search
Find EuroBonus awards in 2026 despite tighter SkyTeam rules
Since SAS joined SkyTeam, partner awards are harder to find and harder to ticket — especially with a 2-for-1 voucher. Business seats still appear if you search hubs first, pick the right destinations, and treat one-way space as a win.
Availability is less predictable than it was in Star Alliance. The network is weaker for long-haul Business on EuroBonus, and the booking rules are tighter. You can still book excellent Business trips in 2026. The search method has to change.
What actually changed after SAS joined SkyTeam
- Inventory is lumpy. Only a few partners still dump seats on a reliable calendar. Kenya Airways is one of the exceptions. Most others open, close, and reopen without a public timetable — see when seats appear.
- The long-haul map is thinner. For many Nordic travellers, SkyTeam feels like a step down from Star Alliance when the goal is Business with EuroBonus points.
- Amex 2-for-1 is capped at two people per booking. Families and groups have to split. Details sit in the 2-for-1 guide.
- More married segments. SkyTeam often sells a routing as one package. If you see ARN–CPH–AMS–CDG–BKK in Business, you usually cannot ticket only CDG–BKK. You take the whole string, transfers included, or you search the segment you actually want as its own itinerary.
- Add-on flights are harder. You used to attach extra flights more freely as long as they were not married. Now many legs only ticket as a new booking, even when they show as available next to the original trip.
- One direction is common; both directions are not. Plenty of outbounds and almost no returns — or the reverse — is the usual 2026 pattern.
How to search Business awards in 2026
Clicking around SAS.com for partner space is still a needle in a haystack. Work the inventory in this order instead.
1. Start from a hub, not only your home airport
Search long-haul Business from a major SkyTeam hub first, then try to attach a feeder. Useful starting airports:
- Amsterdam (AMS)
- London Heathrow (LHR)
- Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG)
- Copenhagen (CPH)
Once you have the ocean crossing, adding a Scandinavian feeder often works. It does not always — married-segment rules still apply — but it is the highest-yield first search. The longer method is in how to find award seats.
2. Watch destinations that still open in Business
These cities show up more often than the rest of the chart right now:
- Singapore
- Shanghai
- Seoul
- Ho Chi Minh City (often at 2× points)
- Nairobi
- Delhi
- New York
- Mexico City
- Sint Maarten
- San José, Costa Rica
- Bogotá
Estimate the points in the EuroBonus calculator before you get attached to a “deal” that is just the chart rate — or a double-points zone.
3. Let Primefly scan instead of SAS.com
Primefly checks award space daily and shows what is actually sitting in cache. Use:
- SAS Longhaul Awards — free scan of SAS-operated North America, Asia and Middle East dates.
- Explore (dashboard) — stored partner and SAS seats; Pro reaches further.
- Alerts — email when a destination, cabin and date window match. Cabin-strict, so a Business watch is not mailed Economy leftovers.
- Trip Builder (Pro) — stitch an outbound and a return, including different cities.
- Primefly Assist — routing and SAS checkout help after you have Pro. Assist is not inside the 24-hour test.
Get Pro starts a cardless 24-hour test. The full list is on the Pro page.
2-for-1 vouchers: the usual snags
Max two people per booking
Plan for two, or split the group. Space can differ between the two PNRs. The practical sequence many travellers use with SAS: start both bookings together, ask the agent to split before points are pulled, then pay points, voucher and taxes on each PNR.
Married segments
If you only want one leg of a long transfer string, search that city pair on its own. Sometimes it appears as a separate award. Often it does not, and the married routing is the only bookable version.
The return is missing
When the outbound is there and the inbound is not:
- Search the return from a nearby airport.
- Ticket two one-ways instead of waiting for a round-trip.
- Come home to a different city (open-jaw).
- Set a Primefly alert so you get mail if the missing leg appears.
Mixing a cash feeder with an award long-haul is sometimes cheaper than waiting — see mix cash and awards.
Bottom line
EuroBonus awards in 2026 take more patience and smarter searches than they did in Star Alliance. Hub-first routing, a short destination list, and a daily scan still produce strong Business trips. If you do not want to click SAS.com every morning, start with Longhaul and a 24-hour Pro test.
