Mix cash tickets with EuroBonus awards

A perfect award on both sides is a luxury. Most finished trips are a points long-haul plus a cash hop — or a sale fare when the award calendar is blank.

Primefly members already see this in the product: award alerts on one tab, cash deals on another. The useful rule is not “never pay money.” It is “do not spend 80,000 points on a feeder that costs 1,200 SEK cash.”

When cash wins

• A short SAS or Finnair hop to the hub that actually has the long-haul award.
• A published Premium Economy sale to Japan or other Asian cities when Business awards are dead and you would have paid the same taxes anyway.
• Peak weeks (Thai holidays, school breaks) where award space is a rumour and a net fare is sitting in the deal stack.

Those sale posts expire. The method does not: price the award in the calculator, look at Longhaul, and if both sides are empty, ask whether a cash ticket or a member deal closes the trip.

Open jaw and mixed cabin
