EuroBonus change fees and partner surcharges

Finding the seat is half the job. The other half is knowing what SAS will charge if you rebuild the ticket when the return finally appears.

SAS has published separate change amounts for short-haul and long-haul awards (figures in the 2025 update sat around 250 SEK domestic/short and 750 SEK long-haul, plus any fare difference). Partner tickets can also carry carrier-imposed surcharges that do not show in a points-only calculator. Always read the SAS price quote before you celebrate a “cheap” award.

Why this matters to the one-way strategy

If you ticket the outbound and wait for the return, you may pay a change fee to add the second leg. That can still be rational. It is not free. Details live in SAS’s current award conditions, not in a blog from last July.

May 2025 partner-fee tweak

SAS also adjusted some SkyTeam partner award fees in 2025. The direction varied by market. Do not copy an old table. Price the itinerary on SAS, then decide.
