How to find SAS EuroBonus award seats
SkyTeam does not publish a single “seats drop on Tuesday” calendar. The people who book Business to Tokyo treat search as a loop, not a one-off form submit.
Since SAS joined SkyTeam, partner award space has been lumpy. Some carriers dump seats far out. Others dribble a seat a few days before departure. A common pattern is a perfect outbound and a blank return — or the reverse.
Map who actually flies there
Before you burn Live Search, list the SkyTeam and partner airlines that operate your city pair. A route map (FlightConnections or similar) is enough. If nobody flies CDG–BKK except one metal, you are not “searching wrong” when AMS looks empty.
Search the big hubs — then the awkward origins
Amsterdam, Paris CDG and London Heathrow concentrate long-haul award seats. Start there. Then try a Scandinavian origin on the same long-haul flight. Airlines often sell a feeder plus the ocean crossing as a married segment. ARN–CDG–BKK can price as an award when CDG–BKK alone will not, even though the widebody is the same aircraft.

Book the half that exists
If only one direction is open, many travellers ticket that half and keep an alert on the missing leg. When the return appears, they call SAS to add it or rebuild the ticket. That is slower than a clean round-trip, and change rules apply — see change fees — but it beats waiting a year for both sides to light up together.
