EuroBonus sweetspots that still pay off

The December 2025 partner chart made some Business zones worse. A few routes still look sane if you count hours in the seat, not just the headline number.

A sweetspot is a zone where the comfort and block time beat the points. That list shrinks when SAS raises Business. Caribbean-style zones took a hard hit. The remaining value is narrower and more tactical.

Mexico at the North America rate

Cancún and other Mexican gateways often price like the United States: 140,000 EuroBonus points round-trip in Business from Europe on the current partner chart. With an Amex 2-for-1 voucher, two people can share that pot (plus taxes). Typical metal: Virgin Atlantic via the UK, KLM, Air France. Air Europa can appear at 2×. Aeromexico award seats are rare. Confirm the zone in the calculator — if SAS files it as Central America, the price jumps.

Zanzibar and the Seychelles

These used to sit on a lower North/Central Africa style bucket. After the hike, 130,000 Business round-trip is the number people quote. That is no longer a steal, but it can still beat cash Business in peak weeks. Kenya Airways has a habit of loading a couple of Business awards; KLM shows up less often. Watch it with an alert rather than a weekly manual search.

One-way math and “via North Africa”

Partner one-ways are not always half of a round-trip. The calculator uses 60% as a working estimate. Creative routings that end in a cheaper zone have been discussed in the community; they depend on SAS pricing the entire ticket as that zone. Do not build a holiday around a loophole until you see the price on SAS. First Class on EuroBonus is mostly theoretical today — China Eastern and Saudia space is the usual footnote, not a plan.
